It is amazing how many people today read the horoscope, fortune cookies, talk with psychics, fortune tellers, or anyone else who says they have the “inside story” of what the future holds financially, relationally and even spiritually.  The Apostle Paul said to the people of Athens when he was there on a missionary journey in Acts 17:21, “For all the Athenians and and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.”  He told them in the next verse, “I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.”  Then he told them about the true God.  (more…)

There has been a lot in the news recently about the mistreatment of children. It is certainly the heart and desire of any good and moral people to protect and nurture children and be repulsed by their mistreatment. Children are a gift from God. They are, as the song says, “precious in His sight” and certainly they are precious in our sight. My wife and I are Great-grandparents. We are also great grandparents! Haha! What a blessing to be a parent, grandparent and great grandparent. (more…)

The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time, (called “Summer Time” in many places in the world) is to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening and we are happy to do so. We look forward to the days where we have light well into the evening. Someone said, “Light is Life.” Nothing is more important to us on earth physically than the sun. Without the sun’s heat and light, the earth would be a lifeless ball of ice-coated rock. The sun warms our seas, stirs our atmosphere, generates our weather patterns, and gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food and oxygen for life on earth. Valentine’s Day is a day of romance. It is a day where gifts such as chocolates, flowers and/or jewelry are given to your “sweetheart” to express your love. Approximately 150 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine’s Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas.
