It is amazing how many people today read the horoscope, fortune cookies, talk with psychics, fortune tellers, or anyone else who says they have the “inside story” of what the future holds financially, relationally and even spiritually.  The Apostle Paul said to the people of Athens when he was there on a missionary journey in Acts 17:21, “For all the Athenians and and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.”  He told them in the next verse, “I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.”  Then he told them about the true God.

The Bible is way ahead of its time.  Science at one time said that the earth was flat, that there were only 1,100 stars, that the earth sat on a large animal, and that sick people must be “bled.”  The Bible stated that the earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22), that there is an incalculable number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22), that the earth is in free float in space (Job 26:7), and that blood is the source of life and health (Leviticus 17:11).  Science NOW agrees with the Bible.  There are many other examples too numerous to mention.

Everyone seems to have been born with a desire to know the future.  God had and has a purpose in revealing prophetic events in the Bible.  From the opening chapters in Genesis through the closing chapters of Revelation, the Bible contains countless prophecies.  All of the prophecies concerning Christ’s first coming have been fulfilled in detail.  These prophecies are authentication of the fact that the Bible is of Divine origin and therefore trustworthy and true.  God has never been wrong one time and yet man still seems to doubt.

The Christian need not fear the future.  For example, the Christian has many promises in the Word of God.  Jesus said in Hebrews 13:5, “… I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”  Matthew 28:20, “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”  John 14:1 and 3 says, “Let not your heart be troubled… I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

What is on the prophetic calendar? The Rapture of the Church, the rise of the Antichrist, the Tribulation, the White Throne Judgement, the new Heaven and the new Earth, etc…  There is fear in not understanding.  The Christian’s future is called the “Blessed Hope.”  Beginning Sunday, May 20th, I am going to be preaching on Prophecy in our morning service at 9:30 am and I will be teaching through the book of Revelation at 11:00 am in our Sunday School hour.  I will be doing this on Sundays except for special services from time to time.

Please join us as we open God’s Word.  Billy Graham said, “I’ve read the last page of the Bible. It’s all going to turn out alright.”
